आहार-निद्रा-भय-मैथुनं च
सामान्यमेतत् पशुभिर्नराणाम् ।
धर्मो हि तेषामधिको विशेषो
धर्मेण हीनाः पशुभिः समानाः ॥
(हितोपदेश)
हिंदी अर्थ:
खाना, सोना, भय और मैथुन ये गुण पशु और मनुष्य दोनों में समान हैं।
मनुष्य को विशेष बनाता है धर्म।
धर्म के बिना मनुष्य भी पशु के समान है।
Without Hari-bhajan, life remains at the level of instinct.
Meaning:
Eating, sleeping, mating, and defending are common to both animals and humans.
Dharma alone distinguishes human life.
Without dharma, humans are equal to animals.
On this basis, he fearlessly stated:
“One who does not perform Hari-bhajan lives only on the animal platform.”
Bhakti is what elevates life beyond survival.
Without devotion, human life remains incomplete.
