This Radhashtami we remember the divine birth of the Queen of Vrindavan, the life of every lila, the crest jewel of devotion. Her birth is transcendental, eternal, beyond time and space, spoken by saints, and carried from heart to heart.
For generations, the world has lovingly called Her, Barsane wali. Barsana remains worshipable, today and forever. Yet there is also a hidden jewel that our acharyas revealed: in this age, Srimati Radhika appeared in Raval. In different kalpas She manifests in different ways, and for this kalpa Her birth took place in Raval. This truth is the mercy of our Sri Guru-parampara.
Katha describes the moment with beauty that melts stone. Before sunrise, Vrishabhanu Maharaj went to the Yamuna and found on a lotus a golden child, smiling and sucking Her toes. He lifted Her as one lifts a soft lotus and carried Her to Mother Kirtida. Later, Narada Rishi arrived and gave Her the name Radha.
When we speak of Radhashtami in this age, we remember Raval as the place of Her birth — revealed and preached by Srila Param Gurudev, Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayan Goswami Maharaj Ji. Without his mercy, the glory of Raval would have remained hidden. Today, we see his legacy blossom as devotees from all over the world come here, and it’s now a beautiful developed place.
On this day, we bow to the dust particles of Raval, and we bow to the saints who keep this truth alive.
