10 July 2025 evening – Guru Purnima: Life and Contribution of Veda Vyasa (Hindi) | Houston, USA

– When punya (pious activities) from many lives accumulate, we attain sadhu-sanga.
– Today is the most auspicious day of celebration for the appearance of Veda Vyasa.
– Parasara Rsi and Satyavati (Matsyagandha) are the father and mother of Veda Vyasa.
– Story of Satyavati’s birth.
– Story of Vyasa Deva’s birth.
– Vyasa means “one who diffuses,” spreads Vedic knowledge; he wrote all the Vedas, Upanisads, Itihasas, and Puranas.
– Vyasa Deva is the Guru, the one who removes the darkness from our hearts and brings light.
– Krsna, Narayana, manifested all the potency and knowledge in the heart of Brahma, which passed to Narada, who then passed to Vyasa Deva.
– Narada explains to Vyasa that until that moment he had written only about dharma, artha, kama, and moksa, and therefore was unhappy, as he had not yet defined the identity of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
– After his Guru’s guidance, Veda Vyasa finally writes the Bhagavata Purana and clarifies who God: Svayam Bhagavan Sri Krsna, is, and what is the ultimate goal of life, Krsna-prema.
– Sloka that defines the identity of God: ete cāṁśa-kalāḥ puṁsaḥ kṛṣṇas tu bhagavān svayam… (SB 1.3.28).
– The Brahma Samhita is replete with all the tattva-siddhantas and also clarifies that Sri Krsna is Svayam Bhagavan.
– The highest prema is Radha-prema for Krsna.
– All living beings are indebted to Vyasa Deva.
– Vyasa preaches the parinamavada philosophy (theory of transformation).
– Monists do not accept Vyasa Deva’s philosophy but practice Vyasapuja; this is false!
– God is: ekam eva tat parama-tattvam – the only Absolute Truth endowed with inconceivable power.
– Important sloka that defines the supremacy of the Lord: ekam eva tat parama-tattvaṃ svābhāvikācintya-śaktyā sarvadaiva… (Bhagavata Sandarbha 16).
