06/10/23 morning – Maha-bhava of the Gopis (English) – Murwilambah, Australia | Srila BV Vana Maharaja

  • The gopis are forbidden by their in-laws to meet Krsna, but their hearts have already been stolen.
  • The gopis stay at home, talking krsna-katha to each other. With their transcendental vision, intoxicated, they see Krsna playing the flute and playing with His friends.
  • Purvaraga, before the meeting, the beloved and the lover feel deep attachment to each other.
  • The gopis do not see the beautiful form of Krsna directly, it is like a television.
  • The gopis think about how fortunate the trees, birds, deer and cows of Vrndavana are to be able to meet Krsna directly.
  • The gopis glorify Krsna’s flute, while forgetting their bodily conception. Conditioned souls never forget their bodily conception.
  • The maha-bhava of the gopis is intense in separation: a second away from Krsna seems to last millions and millions of ages.
  • When the gopis feel separation, the whole world trembles.
  • The gopis think: if with our female body we cannot see Krsna, it is better to be born as trees or deer, as no one will stop us.
  • The maha-bhava of the gopis is disturbing.
  • Upon hearing the sound of Govinda’s flute, the beings of Vrndavana become intoxicated.
  • The birds chirp and when they hear Krsna’s flute on the fifth note, they sing in the same tone.
  • Krsna’s flute plays seven notes.
  • When the Deity is installed, it becomes necessary to do kirtan daily, otherwise She will curse. Hari Bhakti Vilasa explains, the Deity is not a stone.
