– 5 ways to acquire knowledge: kāka-ceṣṭā baka-dhyānaṁ…(Canakya Niti) – 1) the crow’s endeavors; 2) the crane’s meditation; 3) the dog’s sleep; 4) moderate eating; 5) detachment from comforts, not abandoning one’s family.
– Mangala-arati is very important. Do not miss it.
– Verse: anāsaktasya viṣayān yathārham upayuñjataḥ…(Bhakti-rasamrita-sindhu 1.2.255).
– Kṛṣṇārthe ‘khila-ceṣṭā-parāyaṇaḥ (fully dedicated to performing all activities for the sake of Krishna) and kṛṣṇārthe ‘khila-bhoga-tyāgaḥ (giving up all enjoyment for the sake of Krishna).
– Phalgu-vairagya means external detachment while internally maintaining a strong desire for material sense gratification.
– Mahaprabhu to Raghunatha dasa Gosvami: markaṭa-vairāgya nā kara loka dekhāñā…(CC Madhya 16.238); antare niṣṭhā kara, bāhye loka-vyavahāra… (CC Madhya 16.239).
– Krishna Consciousness means being neat and clean, like a gentleman.
– The Six Gosvamis moved from one place to another not because they were afraid of becoming attached to a particular place, but because they wanted to visit every place connected with Radha and Krishna’s lilas.
– Verse about a devotee’s tolerance: tat te ‘nukampāṁ susamīkṣamāṇo…(SB 10.14.8).
– The wheel of karma: a crazy client slaps a manager; the manager slaps his wife; the wife slaps her son; the elder son slaps his younger brother; the younger brother kicks a dog; the dog bites the crazy client.
