22 May 2025 evening – The Development of Sadhana and Realization in Bhakti (English) | Paris, France | Srila BV Vana Maharaja

  • A boat is made of wood suitable for it not to sink, in the same way, the Guru gives everything to the disciple whose heart is clean and tidy.
  • The song Amara Jivana explains that the conditioned soul has no good qualities, but the devotee who recognizes his disqualification is sincere.
  • The heart cannot be cleaned with soap and water; one must chant Harinama: harer nāma harer nāma harer nāmaiva kevalam… (CC Madhya-lila 6.242).
  • The duration of life in each of the four yugas is different.
  • The one who chants the Holy Names is not an ordinary person.
  • This Kali-yuga is called Dhanya Kali-yuga. Song: Ke Jabi Ke Jabi Bhai.
  • In siddhanta-jnana it is not possible to concentrate the mind or chant sudha-nama. Listen to Harikatha from a pure devotee and your mind will not wander here and there.
  • The impersonalists chant the Mahamantra backwards because they do not follow the Scripture and interpret it capriciously.
  • The sadhu repeats the same katha that he learned from his Guru.
  • To attain the Lord one must be completely absorbed in Him.
  • Six categories of feelings that lead to Krsna: kama (lust), dvesa (envy), bhaya (fear), sneha (affection), sambandha (relationship), and bhakti (devotion).
  • Categories of devotees: sambandhatmika-bhakti = serve according to the five rasas. Kamatmika-bhakti is of two types = sambhoga-iccha-mayi-bhakti (gopis who serve Krsna independently) and tat-tad-bhava-iccha-mayi-bhakti (manjaris who serve without ever meeting Krsna independently).
  • Study the Bhajana Rahasya first and then the Madhurya Kadambini.
  • Sarva sresta vandana means elevated prayer to Sri Guru which says that Radhe’s mood reflects in the hearts of the manjaris.
  • Lalita and Visakha are almost on the same level as Radha, they are prana-prestha-sakhis, yet they have to ask permission from the manjaris to enter a confidential Kunja.
  • The six types of people who do not want bhakti are the impersonalists, karmis, logicians, blasphemers, non-devotees and low-level students, as the sloka says: māyāvādī, karma-niṣṭha kutārkika-gaṇa… (CC Adi-lila 7.29-30).
  • A beautiful sloka that extols Radha: radha-karavacita-pallava-vallarike… (Radha Rasa Sudha Nidhi 13).
