PART 1

– Bhagavan manifested everything, He manifested the gross and subtle body, where the soul is located. – The soul has no relationship with the material world. It is transcendental, an integral part of the Lord. – Death is the process by which a new body is obtained. The Bhagavatam explains how to break out of the cycle of births and deaths. – The Rsis of Naimisaranya asked Suta Gosvami six questions, the answers to which are in Srimad Bhagavatam. – Bhakti, immaculate devotional service, provides ultimate benefit to humanity. – In this Kali-yuga, the service is nama-japa-seva, chanting the holy names. – After Bhagavan performed His lilas in this material world, dharma took shelter in the grantha-bhagavata (the holy book) and the bhakta-bhagavata (vaisnava sadhu). – Bhagavatam was spoken on three occasions: Vyasa Deva spoke to Sukadeva Gosvami, who spoke to Pariksit Maharaja, Suta Gosvami heard and spoke to the Rsis and Saunaka Rsi in Naimisaranya. – Song: Sri Guru Parampara explains disciple succession. – Srimad Bhagavatam is the juicy and sweet fruit of the tree of desires. – Lilas of: Parakisit Maharaja, the parrot Suka running away from Sivaji, and Dhruva Maharaja. – Kapila Deva instructs his mother Devahuti saying that true father and mother are those who guide their children towards spiritual life.
