07 Jul 2023 evening – The Glories of Worshiping Krishna at Home (English translation) – Delhi, India | Srila BV Vana Maharaja

  • People celebrate their birthdays, but we are celebrating Krishna’s birthday.
  • The Vrajavasis are always focused on Krishna.
  • Mother Yasoda goes to the bank of the Yamuna with Nanda Baba, offers 1008 candles and performs Arati in celebration of Krishna’s birthday, while brahmanas recite mantras and Svastivachan.
  • When the candles run away from the bank of the Yamuna, Gopala brings them back close to the bank. Mother Yasoda asks why He is doing this, and Krishna explains that His nature is to bring to the shore all those who are flowing away.
  • It means jivas are on the path of karma or jnana and Krishna puts them on the path of bhakti.
  • Story of the person who broke stone to extract gold.
  • The essence of life is to serve God.
  • Understand that your house belongs to Krishna, not you, so your house becomes Goloka Vrndavana.
  • Song: Suddha Bhakata Carana Renu.
  • Glorify the Deity of Krishna every moment of the day.
  • The Vrajavasis, with much love, punish Krishna (mother’s punishment) for Him to do everyday things, like taking a bath when He doesn’t want to.
  • About how Krishna’s friends jokingly ride Him as if He were a horse.
  • Fear of death is the greatest fear, but Yamaraja (deity presiding over death) is afraid of Krishna, and Krishna is afraid of Mother Yasoda.
  • Music: Sri Damodarastakam.
  • Great brahmanas and yogis cannot reach Krishna, but Mother Yasoda chases Him, catches Him and threatens to beat Him for His mischief – how beautiful! – this is the point, love for God!
  • About the curses that the gopis say to Krishna.
  • Srila Gurudeva tells a lila from when they were doing Vraja-mandala, in the Katyayani Temple, place of austerity of the gopis.
