– People, unlike animals, can meditate on the self, realizing that they are not the body but the soul.
– The story of Isaac Newton illustrates the importance of an inquisitive nature.
– Self-realization is the highest realization, but it does not come independently or through one’s own efforts alone. To realize spiritual truths, one needs both the Lord’s mercy and one’s own efforts to obtain that mercy.
– Even a lion must make an effort to hunt.
– It is not easy to control the mind: cañcalaṁ hi manaḥ kṛṣṇa pramāthi balavad dṛḍham… (BG 6.34).
– Krishna instructs Arjuna on how to control the mind.
– Story: making a goat satisfied with food.
– Story: a man tried to straighten a dog’s tail.
