– Srila Gurudeva glorifies the city of Dvaraka, which is one of the seven cities that grant liberation because it is a place where Krsna made His sweet pastimes.
– Srimad-Bhagavatam is Bhagavad-svarupa (the very sound form of the Lord).
– By listening to Bhagavad-katha, all the sins of all living entities are destroyed. We should listen with faith (sraddha).
– The first three verses of Srimad-Bhagavatam represent the Mangalacarana. The first establishes the subject of the book, the second offers the obeisances, and the third establishes the blessings.
– Srila Gurudeva asks that we take note that: Srimad-Bhagavatam is a book that describes sambandha, abhidheya, and prayojana. From the First Canto to the Ninth Canto it deals with sambandha-tattva (knowledge of the relationship); the Eleventh and Twelfth Cantos speak about abhidheya-tattva (the process to achieve the goal), and prayojana-tattva (the supreme goal).
– When Sri Suta Gosvami appeared at that assembly in Naimisaranya, on the banks of the Gomati River, all the Rsis rose from their seats, stood up, and acted according to the rules.
– Srila Gurudeva teaches the proper behavior before a sadhu (guru): first, you should give pranamas (bows) with folded hands, second, you should ask questions based on some knowledge, and third, you should have a tendency towards service.
– The Rsis of the assembly asked Suta Gosvami six questions. The answers to these six questions constitute Srimad Bhagavatam.
– First question: What is the highest benefit for human beings?
– Second question: How can the soul be satisfied?
– Third question: Why did Krsna appear as the son of Devaki?
– Fourth question: Please tell us about the beautiful pastimes of Krsna and Balarama?
– Fifth question: Please also tell us about the beautiful pastimes of Krsna’s avatars?
– Sixth question: When Krsna went to the spiritual abode, in whom did jnana and dharma take refuge?
