PART 1
- 0:03:06 – The presiding deity of the Gaudiya Vaishnavas is Srimati Radhika; this is established in the Brahma-samhita from the perspective of rasa-vichara (analysis of spiritual mellows); Krishna says, “I am alone,” and They manifest in various forms; this is stated in the First Canto of Srimad Bhagavatam; dharma, dasya (adi-rasa and sringara-rasa); everything is manifest in sringara-rasa (conjugal love); there are 5 primary and 7 secondary rasas; all rasas are manifest in Srimati Radhika; Sat-Chit-Ananda is the Lord.
- 0:09:40 – Ananda (bliss) is the source of all existence. For example, a family man may have a trillion dollars, but if there is no happiness in his heart, a king thinks, “Another person has happiness.”
- 0:10:54 – Where is happiness? Only by performing Hari-bhajan will happiness come. Baladeva Prabhu is the presiding deity of the Sandhini-shakti (the energy of existence). ‘Sat’ is the element of eternity, and ‘Chit’ is all types of transcendental knowledge; the presiding deity of all knowledge is Krishna. ‘Hladini’ is Srimati Radharani. Kirtan.
- 0:12:16 – Sat-Chit-Ananda is the Lord’s inconceivable energy; this cannot be understood in the material world. Srimad Bhagavatam—’Sri’ is Radhika, Sarva-Lakshmi, the possessor of all opulence, and the mood of love is manifest in Her. Srila Rupa Gosvami Prabhu explains that the Lord exhibits beauty, and next to Radhika, this beauty increases. In Vrindavan, everyone shouts “RADHE RADHE!” Krishna will be happy if you worship Radhika, and Radha will be happy if you worship Krishna. Srila Shukadeva Gosvamipada said: “In the transcendental Goloka Vrindavana, I am the dear parrot of Srimati Radhika. She Herself fed me and taught me to say ‘Krishna’.” “Govinda Damodara Madhaveti…” Kirtan.
- 0:18:15 – Srila Shukadeva Gosvamipada said this to Krishna, and Krishna said, “Do not repeat My names; repeat the names of Radhika. RADHE RADHE!” Jaya RADHE kirtan.
- 0:22:30 – For Krishna’s pleasure, we must celebrate Radhashtami. Creation, maintenance, and destruction are performed by the Lord. But does anyone celebrate death? The Padma Purana states: “One who is born will die.” The Lord is not born and does not die. The soul (atma) is transcendental. The Lord manifests pastimes of birth to teach us. All the Lord’s influences are transcendental; only great souls (mahatmas) can see and realize this. In the prison of Kamsa, Krishna appears. Birth and appearance are different things. Bhagavan appears—anywhere and anyhow. ‘Manifest’ in English. Examples: Lord Nrisimhadeva and Prahlada Maharaja. In Vrindavana, Krishna is born.
- 0:29:10 – Nanda Maharaja performed all the ceremonial rites (samskaras)—naming ceremony, cutting the umbilical cord, etc. He invited and fed the brahmanas. When a child is born, karma manifests; when the Lord is born, it is lila (pastime).
- 0:34:10 – A story: There once was a king who called two gardeners, gave them land and 50,000 rupees, and said, “Create a garden.” One gardener made a beautiful garden after five years, the other turned it into a jungle. The meaning of the story is that our world is a forest, a garden. The Lord created this world; what needs to be done? One needs to prune the trees, take care, to maintain balance. He created this system—the cycle of life, birth, and death.
- 0:44:08 – Krishna said that for three lifetimes He would be like their son. The Lord gave such a blessing to Krishna and Sudama. Aditi – Vamanadev; Devaki and Vasudeva; Yashoda and Nanda; the residents of Gokula and Mathura always argue that Krishna was born to them.
- 0:49:35 – In reality, Devaki and Mother Yashoda are one and the same.
- 0:51:10 – The story of King Devamira; he had two wives: from the kshatriya dynasty, his son was Vasudeva; from the vaishya dynasty, the third of five children was Nanda.
- 0:52:50 – Kirtan: “Nanda Nanda…”
- 0:54:12 – Srila Vishvanatha Chakravarti Thakur provides these evidences; Gambhira-katha; the 6th-day ceremony; Nanda Maharaja paid taxes; before this, he did not pay as he had no children.
- 0:57:55 – The manifestation of Durga-devi, whom Kamsa worshiped. Kamsa gathered all the demons for a 5-day assembly where they discussed how to kill and find Krishna. Putana said, “Don’t worry, Kamsa, I will find Him. Anyone born up to 10 days before and after Krishna’s birth date, I will kill those children and drink their blood.”
- 1:03:45 – Shivaji calms little Gopala; Mother Yashoda wraps Krishna in black clothing, and thus Shiva gets darshan of Krishna.
- 1:09:20 – Putana was in beautiful clothes and resembled a girl from Vraja; the girls of Vraja carry water pots on their heads; Putana had a lotus in her hands.
- 1:12:54 – When Putana entered the room, Krishna closed His eyes. The story of Ratnavali; she thought, “What a beautiful dwarf” (Lord Vamanadev). The pastime of Lord Vamanadev, who asked for three steps of land.
- 1:17:13 – Prahlada Maharaja said: “Those who perform sadhana and bhajan are selfish; they do it for their own benefit.” Prahlada Maharaja appealed to Nrisimhadeva and received the blessing to perform bhajan and sadhana and to engage others as well.
- 1:17:43 – The scriptures say one should not kill women; but if someone is a terrorist, there is no sin in it.
- 1:21:16 – Arjuna saw the entire army and was very frightened. Krishna says: “Fight! Bhima received the blessing to die at his own will. Teacher Dronacharya taught you the art of warfare; do you think you can kill them? You are thinking of the results, but they belong to Me. The battle of Kurukshetra establishes dharma. All these wars are like a wall; how to destroy this wall? Simply take refuge in Me.”
- 1:28:18 – Various reasons why Krishna closed His eyes.
- 1:30:00 – The rules of battle; Ramachandra killed Bali Maharaja from behind; when dealing with a terrorist, one need not follow the rules.
- 1:35:40 – Vraja became covered in dust; all the trees rose into the sky. Putana had the strength of 1000 elephants. When Putana fell, Mother Rohini began to console Mother Yashoda. The residents of Vraja cut Putana’s huge body into pieces and burned it. Although Putana never bathed and emitted a terrible smell, the whole of Vrindavan was filled with a beautiful fragrance.
- 1:41:28 – Our acharyas explain: Krishna killed Putana and sent her to Goloka as a maidservant of Mother Yashoda. Putana never performed austerities or bathed. If you bathe in the morning, you will not go to hell. If you bathe during this month (Kartika), you will go to Brahmaloka. If you bathe with Tulasi around your neck, you will attain liberation. If you wear tilaka, Yamaraja will not accept you. Everyone should wear tilaka and a Tulasi mala.
- 1:47:15 – Once you offer obeisances to Govinda, you will not return to this material world. In Kali-yuga, one must chant the maha-mantra; this is described in the Kali-santarana Upanishad: “Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna…” which was written by Vyasadeva; if you go to the ancient library in Jayapur, you will see this original book. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu says: “This is the maha-mantra for Kali-yuga.”
- 1:50:12 – Putana-mokshana lila (the pastime of delivering Putana). ‘Put’ means pure, ‘na’ means impure, unchaste; she is the personification of duplicity and hypocrisy. The Lord teaches us to kill this within our hearts.
- 1:53:17 – Raghunatha Dasa Gosvami says: “For the sake of fame and honor, some people exhibit these qualities.”
- 1:54:50 – At least in this life, try to understand this: the killing of Trinavarta, Shakatasura… ‘Shaka’ means cart, a heavy wagon. Krishna killed these demons; the killing of demons.
- 1:56:07 – There are two types of people: those who bear the burdens of this world, and those whose lives pass in vain. Tulasidas speaks about this. For example, when children send their parents to an old-age home.
- 1:59:45 – The purpose of this life is to perform Hari-bhajan. In old age, it is very difficult; the body will ache, become heavy, and there will be so many desires.
- 2:03:30 – “Krishna, may my mind always be absorbed in Your lotus feet.” How difficult it is to perform sadhana at 70-75 years old! The throat gets blocked, it’s hard to speak. The earlier you perform sadhana, the better.
- 2:07:00 – The demons Shakatasura, Trinavarta—all these are within our heart. Krishna-bhakti is necessary; prema-bhakti. One must eliminate the desire for liberation; you must study tattva-siddhanta (established philosophical truths).
PART 2
- 0:00:00 – Vishnupriya says, “Gauranga is my whole life.” In Kali Yuga, our worshipable deity (ishtadeva) is Mahaprabhu; this is described in the 11th Canto. The mantra is the Maha-mantra. For one who chants the holy names, all offenses will be eliminated.
- 0:05:26 – The birth of Krishna is celebrated, but the celebration of Radhika’s birth should be even more magnificent. Srimati Radhika takes various births in different kalpas: She appears from a lotus, from an egg, and by the pond of Vrishabhanu Maharaja. The beautiful, smiling face of Srimati Radhika—you can read these descriptions in my book, “Madhu Smriti Shri Radha.” It’s only in English for now; devotees are working on translating it into Hindi.
- 0:09:30 – Radhika appeared on the bank of the Yamuna, in Ravala. This is a beautiful place; now it is all beautifully developed. Narada Rishi thought, “If Krishna appeared in Gokula, then this place must be nearby.” Wherever Nanda Maharaja was, Vrishabhanu Maharaja was always nearby. The nature, the beauties, the birds, and their sounds are described.
- 0:13:50 – Vrishabhanu Maharaja went to take his bath; at that time, the six seasons manifested, and an incredible effulgence came from Radhika. Radha was holding her big toe and sucking it. Vrishabhanu took Her and embraced Her. Rupa Gosvamipada explains this: When Kirtida took Radhika into her arms, prema manifested in her heart. Narada Rishi came to the house and asked, “Are there any children here?” The Maharaja said, “There is a son, and there is also a daughter.” Then they began to perform the necessary ceremonies; the Maharaja brought all the articles for the svasti-vachana (auspicious rites).
- 0:17:30 – The glory of Srimati Radhika. Lalita-devi said, “Narada Rishi, please glorify Radhika!” (Mention of the prayer “Shri Radha Kripa Kataksha Stava Raja”). Radha manifested in the form of youthful adolescence, and all Her eight principal sakhis (friends) manifested near Her.
