1st step: take shelter at the lotus feet of the Spiritual Master.
2nd step: receive spiritual initiation, diksa, without this the body and mind cannot be purified.
3rd step: siksa, learning about the Scriptures, without this you cannot do sadhana properly.
4th step: visrambena-guru-seva, serving the Guru with intimacy, is further on.
Two types of service to the Guru: vapuseva (external service to the physical body), and vaniseva (internal service that is to propagate the Guru’s philosophical conceptions) this is the highest.
Gaura Kisora Dasa Babhaji Maharaja had no education, but he was very learned. Bhakti does not depend on material knowledge, it does not depend on anything.
