TRANSCRIPT
Actual couple days before the disappearance day of some Gosvamis and one nearest and dearest Vaishnava of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu that is called Gopala Bhatta Gosvami. So just I want to speak about his life history and contributions. Gopala Bhatta Gosvami he was born in South India very near to, what is called the place? Sri Rangam. And his father and uncle that is called Prabodhananda Sarasvatipada and Vyenkata Bhatta. No No Gopala Bhatta Gosvamis fathers name was… What his name? Vyenkata Bhatta, and his two uncles that is called Prabodhananda Sarasvatipada and Trimalla Bhatta. That is called the families of Bhatta parivara, high classed Brahmana family.
When Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu traveled in South India. Then Chaitanaya Mahaprabhu, first He met with Raya Ramananda on the bank of the river Godavari. Then Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu came into one very nice and beautiful temple. What is name of the temple? Just I told, not listening and not remembering, just I told. What the temple name? Venkateshvara Bhagavan. Okay, when Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu came to the temple and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu completely absorbed in His ecstatic mood and dancing and singing.
Then everybody also completely surprised taking darshana to Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Especially Bhatta parivara, Prabodhananda Sarasvatipada and also Trimalla Bhatta and Vyenkata Bhatta they were, they became very surprised about Chaitanya Mahaprabhu ecstatic mood. And they actual worshipped Lakshmi-Narayana, that is called, they are called the Sri Sampradayas. Then Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, they also invite to Him, “Please come in our house a few days,” and that time also Chaturmasya is going on.
So Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, He was staying in their house. But everyday Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu glorified sweet pastimes of Divine Couple Radha and Krishna. Because Chaitanya Mahaprabhu always absorbed in the mood of Srimati Radhika, for this regard, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu everyday spoke Srimad-Bhagavatam, Krishna’s sweet amorous pastimes with the gopis. And when especially Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu discussed krishna-tattva, radha-tattva,
prema-tattva, rasa-tattva, all tattvas Chaitanya Mahaprabhu told, that time they become very surprised.
And especially Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu told them about rasa-pancha-dhyayi katha, five chapters of Srimad-Bhagavatam, tenth canto, that is 29th chapter to 33 chapter, that is rasa-pancha-dhyayi katha. That time they become very surprised and intoxicated with listen to rasa-lila katha. So Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was staying in their house, so they have so much love and affection with Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. As like their families member, laukika sad-bandhuvat priti.
Sometimes Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu laughing joking and talking with them and different different things also in this way. One day, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s laughed and joked with them. Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu asked to them, “You worship Lakshmi Narayana. But I heard from Srimad-Bhagavatam, Lakshmi-devi, She is still performing hard austerities in Vrindavana, how to enter in rasa dance. But still she did not enter in the rasa dance in the gopis. Even I heard also Shruti, Vedas, Puranas, they manifested gopis form and they entered in rasa dance. But your Lakshmi-devi, she did not enter in rasa dance.
“Even your Laxmi-devi she is called the chaste lady. Why she abandoned her husband Narayana? And performing hard austerities in Vrindavana, in Baelvana, how to enter in rasa dance and meet with Krishna? And especially Lakshmi-Narayana, those who worship Lakshmi-Narayana, they follow all the rules and regulations of the scriptures, vidhi-marga. So why Lakshmi-devi she abandoned her husband Narayana, and performing hard austerities in Vrindavana in Baelvana.”
In this way Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu laughed and joked with them. And Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu also told, “My ishtadeva that is called Krishna. And Krishna is gopa-jati, dynasty of gopa, milkman boy. And He is herding the cows with His friends. And Krishna is a very simple boy, and He is completely blackish, no any kinds of ornaments in His body. He keeps peacock feather on his forehead, on His head, and playing flutes, and taking the remnants from His friends. So cowherd dynasty, that is called lower than brahmana dynasty. But your ishtadeva, Lakshmi, she is called brahmani, so brahmana dynasty is higher than cowherd dynasty.
“So why Lakshmi-devi, she wants to meet with Krishna, who belongs to cowherd dynasty. And another things also Lakshmi, she has so much opulence in Vaikuntha. Because she is called the Queen of Vaikuntha. And she has so many maidservant, many kinds of opulence in there. So why does she want to meet with Krishna and dancing and singing in the rasa dance?” In this way, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu laughed and joked with them.
And that time, Prabodnananda Sarasvati, Vyenkatta Bhatta, Trimalla Bhatta, they told to Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, “Prabhu why you are laughing and joking with my ishtadeva Lakshmi? Because our also shastras explain there are no difference between Lakshmi, eh there are no difference between Narayana and Krishna.”
siddhāntatas tv abhede’pi śrīśa-kṛṣṇa-svarūpayoḥ
rasenotkṛṣyate kṛṣṇa-rūpam eṣā rasa-sthitiḥ
Bhakti-rasamrita-sindhu (2.1.222-223)
[Although according to siddhanta, both the forms of Narayana and Krishna are non-different, considering shringara-rasa, Sri Krishna’s form must be considered as superior due to His rasas. In this way rasa-tattva is established.]According to the conception of the scripture, there are no difference Narayana and Krishna. Because Lord is one. Just according to rasa-madhurya He relishes different different rasas. Same Krishna, He manifested in the form of Narayana in Vaikuntha. So in this way, according to the tattva-vichara there are no difference Narayana and Krishna. This is true or not? One person has two kinds of jobs. One his jobs is what? Lawyer and another job is doctor. When he goes to the court, everybody calls him lawyer, and when he is sitting in his clinic, everybody call him doctor. Person is same, but different dress and different job.
So that means, that conclusion is that there is no difference between Narayana and Krishna. But rasenotkṛṣyate kṛṣṇa-rūpam eṣā rasa-sthitiḥ. According to the rasa-vichara, conception of mellows, Krishna is the highest. But person is same, not others. That’s why our shastras is saying,
eka brahma dvitīyam nāsti
[There is only one Brahma without a second.]Only one Brahma without second. “So why you are joking and laughing with us. So that means that Srimati, eh Lakshmi-devi she did not loose her chastity. Because she has nishtha with her husband Narayana. So why are you laughing and joking with my ishtadeva Lakshmi-devi.”
Then Mahaprabhu told, “Okay, this is good answer. Lord is one, but according to His lila, He manifested many forms: in Vaikuntha Narayana, Ayodhya Ramachandra, Dvarakadhisha Krishna, Mathuradhisha Krishna and Vrajendra-nandana Shyamasundara.” Vaikuntha, Ayodhya, Dvaraka, Mathura and Goloka-Vrindavana, in the sequence (Gurudeva correcting translator) eh Mathura, first Vaikuntha Narayana. Because why am I saying this? Lord is one, but He manifested many forms.
In this way, Lord He is relishing different different kinds of mellows from the hearts of the devotees. Here is Jagannatha, who is Jagannatha? Jagannatha, He is non different from Krishna. Understand? He is called Dvarakadhisha Krishna. This is true or not? Then Mathuradhishа Krishna, in this way. So Lord He manifested many forms in Vrindavana, Mathura, Dvarаka, Ayodhya and Vaikuntha-dhama.
In this same way, Srimati Radhika, She’s in Goloka-Vrindavana. She also manifested many forms in Vaikuntha, Ayodhya, Dvaraka and Mathura. Srimati Radhika, She manifests in the form of Lakshmi-devi in Vaikuntha. You understand? This is the philosophy. Same Srimati Radhika, She manifests in Ayodhya in the form of Sita-devi. Same Srimati Radhika, She manifests in Dvaraka in the form of Satyabhama. So that means, there are no difference between Srimati Radhika and Lakshmi.
As like Krishna’s many incarnation, in the same way, Srimati Radhika She manifest in her many kinds of incarnations also there. So now coming in this way, Prabodhananda Sarasvatipada and Bhatta parivara, they asked, “Prabhu why are you joking and laughing with us and criticizing our ishtadevi Lakshmi. So in this way, Lakshmi-devi she did not lose her chastity. Because Lakshmi-devi her nihtha with Narayana, but same Narayana in here is Krishna. Krishna is nondifferent than Narayana.”
Then Mahaprabhu, “Okay your answer is good, I accept, but I want to know, all Vedas, Puranas, Upanishads, they manifested their gopi forms and performed hard austerities and they entered in rasa dance. But Lakshmi-devi she did not enter in rasa dance. Why?” Lakshmi-devi she did not enter in rasa dance, and still she is performing hard austerities in Vrindavana, on the bank of Yamuna in Baelvana. Mahaprabhu asked this question.
That time, they told, “Prabhu, we don’t know why.” Then Mahaprabhu told, “Listen very carefully, once Narada Rishi came in Vaikuntha-dhama. Then Narada Rishi very nicely glorified about Krishna’s rasa dance with the gopis. Krishna’s highest lilas that is called rasa-lila.
jaya jaya ujjvala-rasa sarva-rasa-sāra
parakīyā-bhāve ĵāhā vrajete pracāra
Sri Vraja-dhama-mahimamrtita (10)
[All glories, all glories to the mellow of conjugal love, which is the most excellent of all rasas and is propagated in Vraja by Sri Krishna in the form of the divine parakiya-bhava (paramour love).]Krishna’s topmost lila that is called rasa-lila. So in this way, Narada Rishi, he glorified Krishna and gopis’ rasa-lila in Vrindavana.
Then Lakshmi-devi, she has so much greed has come. Then she asked to Narada Rishi, “Hey Rishi, tell to me. How will I enter to the rasa dance with gopis in Vrindavana?” Then Narada Rishi told, “This is very easy process, if you want to enter in rasa dance in Vrindavana, it is easy process. You may go Vrindavana and perform hard austerities to Krishna will be pleased with you, then maybe Krishna will allow to him enter rasa dance.” Then Lakshmi-devi she also left Vaikuntha-dhama and came in Vrindavana, Bhauma-Vrindavana and performed hard austerities.
If you go to Baelvana, you can see, Lakshmi-devi she fold her hands and sitting and also paying her obeisances and perform hard austerities. Especially in Vrindavana is very hottest place. Understand? Now we are staying in Vrindavana, very hot, day by day going where? Up, up, up, up. Not so easy to tolerate the hot in Vrindavana, You understand? If you go now Vrindavana, then you realize. So many also what? Look in my whole body so many small, small, what is called? Sprinkles coming, look and so much sweat.
Sometimes also very, what is called, hot wind is blowing. Not so easy to tolerate. Lakshmi-devi she is staying in Vaikuntha, very nice beautiful place, air conditioned place. And now she is performing hard austerities in where? In Vrindavana. And Vrindavana also full of also dust. Do you understand? So many also, what is called? Contaminated the air with the dust, because cows they are running there, these these things. So many kinds of pollution in Vrindavana.
But Lakshmi-devi she came and performed hard austerities in there. She gave up all their sense gratification, bhoga-tyaga. No her, in front of her, no maidservant, nobody fanning, nobody giving water, food or nothing. Understand? Lakshmi-devi she is staying in Vaikuntha, so many what is called? Maidservants around her, fanning, no need fanning. Giving many kinds of foods, delicious foods, because she is called the Queen of Vaikuntha. And now she is doing hard austerities in Baelvana in Vrindavana.
Maybe she is just taking some bael juice and drinking, no any kinds of food, nothing. So in this way, many years Lakshmi-devi she performed hard austerities in Vrindavana. Then Narada Rishi, eh then Krishna appeared in front of her. Then Krishna told, “Hey Lakshmi-devi I am very pleased with you, you ask any benediction what do you want.”
Then Lakshmi-devi she told, “Hey Krishna, hey Govinda, just I want to enter your rasa dance as like your gopis.” Then Krishna told, “It is impossible for you, you cannot enter in my rasa dance in Vrindavana as like gopis.” Then Lakshmi told, “No, no, I have to enter in your rasa dance as like gopis.” Then Krishna told, “If you enter my rasa dance you have to follow some my instruction. First instruction is that you have to give up your egos of brahmani, brahmani-abhimana.”
Because Lakshmi-devi she is very proud of her brahmanical activities, she is thinking, “I am brahmani, highest caste.” So Krishna told, “First you give up your, this brahmani-abhimana, the egos of brahmani.” Then that time Lakshmi-devi said, “How possible I give up my egoistic mood, brahmani-abhimana?” Then Krishna said, “Not just this, listen more condition, one by one. Second, you have to take birth in Vrindavana.”
Then Lakshmi-devi told, “How possible take birth in Vrindavana? Because this Vrindavana is full of dust, and my place is Vaikuntha, very neat and clean. So how possible take birth in Vrindavana, full of dust. Then Krishna told, “Not only this, listen more instruction. Third, you must take birth in the womb of one gopi.” Then Lakshmi-devi said, “It is impossible for me, I don’t want to take birth in the womb of any gopi.” Then Krishna told, “Not this also, listen, more condition. You have to marry with one gopa.”
Then Lakshmi-devi told, “This is impossible for me. I am chaste lady, how possible give up my husband Narayana and marry with one gopa?” Then Krishna, he told, “Not this, another condition. You have to associate with the gopis, eternal associate of gopis, who are nitya-parikara, Radha, Lalita, Vishakha, you have to associate with them.” That time Lakshmi-devi said, “How possible? They are cowherd girls, and I am Rajarani, you know, Queen of Vaikuntha. How possible I associate with them?”
Then Krishna told, “Not this also, listen another also condition. You have to put gopi dress, give up your queen’s dress and also patting the cow dung with the gopis.” Then Lakshmi-devi told, “How possible patting the cow dungs, my hands, bad smell come. I don’t want to patting the cow dungs.” Then Krishna told, “Not only this also, you have to marry one gopa and in paramour mood, you also will meet with Me.”
Then Lakshmi-devi she told, “I am chaste lady, how possible I will meet with You in paramour mood, parakiya-bhava. If I meet with you in paramour mood, then I will go hell. So I don’t want to meet with you in paramour mood, parakiya-bhava.” Then Krishna told, “You are not qualified to enter in My rasa dance as like gopis.” Still she is also performing hard austerities in Baelvana.
So Mahaprabhu told to Bhatta parivara, “Look Lakshmi-devi she is performing hard austerities in there, but she did not enter in rasa dance. But some Vedas, Upanishads, they perform hard austerities in Vrindavana, they attend rasa dance as like Gopala-tapani Upanishads.
Because Vedas and Upanishads they followed all the rules and regulations of Vrindavana. But Lakshmi-devi she does not want to follow any rules and regulations of these rules of Vrindavana.
She wants to enter in rasa dance with her Lakshmi body. But it is not possible for her. Another thing, Krishna, He is born in gopa dynasty. And Krishna does not accept those who are outside a gopa dynasty. Here Chaitanya-charitamrita very clearly explains,
gopa-jāti kṛṣṇa, gopī — preyasī tāṅhāra
devī vā anya strī kṛṣṇa nā kare aṅgīkāra
Chaitanya-charitamrita (Madhya-lila 9.135)
[Lord Krishna belongs to the cowherd community, and the gopis are the dearmost lovers of Krishna. Although the wives of the denizens of the heavenly planets are most opulent within the material world, neither they nor any other women in the material universe can acquire Krishna’s association.]Krishna He appears in gopa dynasty, cowherd dynasty. So those who are others, they accept gopa dynasty, Krishna will not accept to them.
In this way, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu established that Krishna’s topmost lila, that is called the rasa-lila. Though Krishna is one, but He has many incarnations. But Vrajendra-nandana Shyamasundara has 64 qualifications. But four extra ordinary qualifications. That extra ordinary qualifications not in Narayana, Ramachandra and Dvarakadhisha Krishna. That four extra ordinary qualifications that is called is what? Rupa-madhurya, sweetness of His beauty. Lila-madhurya, sweetness of His divine pastimes. Prema-madhurya, the sweetness of His divine love. And fourth, that is called venu-madhurya, sweetness of the sound of His flute.
This four extra ordinary qualifications not in Ayodhyapati Ramachandra, Vaikuntha-Adipati Narayana, not anyone, only Krishna’s this qualifications. So in this way, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu He glorified Krishna’s sweet lila and sweet pastimes. That time Prabodhananda Sarasvatipada, Vyenkatta Bhatta, Trimalla Bhatta they asked, “How would we attain to lotus feet of Srimati Radhika and Vrajendra-nandana Shyamasundara?”
Then Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu told, “You must worship Vrajendra-nandana Shyamasundara, understand? And give up your all kinds of activities. And do bhajana and sadhana under the guidance of vraja-gopis.
gopī-ānugatya vinā aiśvarya-jñāne
bhajileha nāhi pāya vrajendra-nandane
Chaitanya-charitamrita (Madhya-lila 8.230)
[Unless one follows in the footsteps of the gopis, he cannot attain the service of the lotus feet of Krishna, the son of Nanda Maharaja. If one is overcome by knowledge of the Lord’s opulence, he cannot attain the Lord’s lotus feet, even though he is engaged in devotional service.]Without following the instructions, eh um, without following the footsteps of gopis you may not enter in Vraja.
That means what? Gopi-anugatya, you have to do bhajana and sadhana under the guidance of vraja-gopis. This is very important. Because Lakshmi-devi, she does not want to follow the instructions of the gopis, gopis-anugatya. Another things, you have to take birth in Vrindavana in the womb of the gopis. Without gopi-deha, form of gopi form you cannot enter in rasa dance. That time, their mind changed, that time Prabodnananda Sarasvatipada, Trimalla Bhatta and Vyenkatta Bhatta, they changed to worship Lakshmi Narayana to worship the Divine Couple Radha Krishna.
So in this way, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu preached to them how to enter in gopi’s form and do bhajana and sadhana in Goloka Vrindavana. So now coming in this way, that time Gopala Bhatta Gosvami was very small boy, maybe five or six years old. And Gopala Bhatta Gosvami he was so much attachment with Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Everyday he massaged the lotus feet of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. And Mahaprabhu was very pleased with him and gave His remnants to him.
And everyday Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu spoke very nice and beautiful Vrindavana lila-kathamrita. So after four months, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu have to leave that place. Then small boy, Gopala Bhatta Gosvami, he told to Mahaprabhu, “I want to go with You.” Then Chaitanya Maharprabhu told, “No Gopala you stay in your house and serve your parents, because your parents, they are Vaishnavas.”
Because Mahaprabhu instructed to everyone,
prabhu kahe, — “vaiṣṇava-sevā, nāma-saṅkīrtana
Chaitanya-charitamrita (Madhya-lila 16.70)
[The Lord replied, “You should engage yourself in the service of the servants of Krishna and always chant the holy name of Krishna.”]Everyone chant holy names and serve to Vaishnava. For this regard Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu He told, “Your parents they are Vaishnava so no need to give up your house. But when your parents, they will be die and departed from this material word. Then you will go to Vrindavana and stay with Rupa and Sanatana and do bhajana and sadhana in there.” In this way, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu left that place and Gopala Bhatta Gosvami, small boy, he also fainted because he could not tolerate separation from Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
So according to the instruction of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Gopala Bhatta Gosvami, he served his parents and everyday chanting holy names, gayatri-mantras, gopala-mantra, everythings. Then after few years, then his parents left body, then Gopala Bhatta Gosvami, he left his house and proceed to Vrindavana. When Gopala Bhatta Gosvami proceeded to Vrindavana on the way, he came in one what is called, one place, Sarovara pond is there and taking bath. One day, he was taking bath in the river, the one big shalagrama came on his hand.
Then Gopala Bhatta Gosvami, he worshiped that shalagrama-shila. He is thinking, “This is the combined form of the Divine Couple, Radha and Krishna.” There are many types of shalagrama-shila, understand? In Hari-bhakti-vilasa also mentions that the sign of the shalagrama-shila you can understand, this shalagrama-shila is Narayana shila, this shalagrama Damodara shila, Narasimha shila.
Understand these things? But he, Gopala Bhatta Gosvami, he worships this shalagrama-shila and thinking, “This is the combined form of Divine Couple, Radha and Krishna.” Maybe that shila is what is called, maybe Radha Damodara shila, maybe. Understand? Hari-bhakti-vilasa explain, this marks you can see it is Kurma shila, Narayana shila, what is called, Narasimha shila, Radha-Damodara shila, different, different.
So in this way, Gopala Bhatta Gosvami, he came in Vrindavana and perform bhajana and sadhana in there with Rupa and Sanatana. And day and night chanting holy names. And feeling separation from Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
saṅkhyā-pūrvaka-nāma-gāna-natibhiḥ kālāvasānī-kṛtau

Shad-gosvami-ashtaka (6)
[I offer my respectful obeisances unto the six Gosvamis, namely Sri Rupa Gosvami, Sri Sanatana Gosvami, Sri Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami, Sri Raghunatha dasa Gosvami, Sri Jiva Gosvami, and Sri Gopala Bhatta Gosvami, who were engaged in chanting the holy names of the Lord and bowing down in a scheduled measurement. In this way they utilised their valuable lives and in executing these devotional activities they conquered over eating and sleeping and were always meek and humble enchanted by remembering the transcendental qualities of the Lord.]Srinavasa Acharya, he composed the glorification of six Gosvamis, that is called Shad-gosvami-ashtaka.
One day Sanatana, eh Gopala Bhatta Gosvami, he felt pangs of separation from Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Because he got direct association of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. So for this regard, he could not forget the love and affection of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. So one day, he was thinking, “If my Thakuraji is Divine Couple Radha Krishna then I put nice cloth and decorate very nicely. But my Thakuraji, shalagrama-shila, as like rasagulla, round figure. So how put the cloths on my Thakuraji, Thakuraji has no legs no hands, just round figure.”
So one midday, Gopala Bhatta Gosvami he went out from his kutira to collect some madhukari from the Vrajavasis’ house. When he returned back to his bhajana-kutira he saw his shalagrama-shila manifested three-bend form that is called tribhanga-lalilta. That is called is what? Radha-Ramana, very nice beautiful playing flute and also smiling face, teeth is coming out from the mouth also.
And that is also shalagrama-shila behind His back also. Understand? Actually, who is Radha-Ramana? Actually there are nondifferent from Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. And who is Chaitanya Mahaprabhu? The combined form of Divine Couple, Radha and Krishna. Understand? Sri Radha-Ramana.
mero radha ramana giridhari
giridhari shyama banvari
In this way, Gopala Bhatta Gosvami he worshipped his Thakuraji, Radha-Ramana. Now, Radha-Ramana in temple in Vrindavana, that is called Radha-Ramana temple is there and Gosvami’s Bhatta parivara they also worshipped that Thakuraji in there.
In our Gaudiya, three deities: Govinda, Gopinatha and Madana-Mohana. But Radha-Ramana, He is what? Three in one. So if you take darshana to Radha-Ramana, that means you get same results, fruits of taking darshana of three deities, Govinda, Gopinatha and Madana-Mohana. And Gopala Bhatta Gosvami, he wrote many granthas also. Because Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu instruct to him, “You have to collect some shuddha-sadachara, Vaishnava shuddha-sadachara shlokas, good behavior of Vaishnavas.”
So Gopala Bhatta Gosvami, he collect many shuddha-sadachara shlokas from Ramanujacharya Sampradayas or Sri Sampradayas. And he also wrote the commentary on Krishna-karnamrita grantha. And wrote many granthas also in there. So Gopala Bhatta Gosvami, he collect many shlokas. Shuddha-sadachara and gave to Sanatana Gosvamipada. And Sanatana Gosvamipada manifested Hari-bhakti-vilasa grantha.
And Gopala Bhatta Gosvami he also manifested Sat-kriya-sara-dipika. How to perform fire sacrifice and different different Vaishnava activities as like first grain ceremony, that is called annaprashana-samskara, upanayana-samskaras, different different samskaras. he wrote in Sat-kriya-sara-dipika grantha. Understand that is called Sat-kriya-sara-dipika. And he always absorbed to meditate ashta-kaliya lila of Divine Couple Radha Krishna.
And mostly, he performed bhajana and sadhana in Vrindavana. And especially he was staying in, Sanketa Ishvari. If you go to Vrindavana parikrama, then you go one place, Varshana and Nandagaon amd the middle place that is called Sanketa Ishvari, Krishna played the flute, all the gopis are meeting there, very nice beautiful rasa dance lila is there. And Gopala Bhatta Gosvami he performed bhajana and sadhana and his samadhi is also there.
And his transcendental, constitutional form, siddha-deha, that is called Guna Manjari. Very nearest and dearest sakhis of Srimati Radhika, Guna Manjari there. And his one disciple, what is his disiciple? You know? Narottama, Shyamananda, . They took diksha from different gurus, but all of they took shiksha from Jiva Gosvamipada. Narottama dasa Thakura, he took diksha from Lokanatha dasa Gosvami. And Shyamananda Prabhu, he took diksha from Hridaya Chaitanya. And Srinivasa Acharya, he took diksha from Gopala Bhatta Gosvami.
So, but all they took shiksha from Jiva Gosvamipada. And all they fulfill the desires of their Gurudeva. What is the best desire of guru? You understand? Sad-guru what does he want? Bring nice cloths, give nice prasada, many juice and give lot of money. Actually, sad-guru wants want things? Not these things. Sad-guru wants how to fulfill his desires. What is his desires? How to serve his ishtadeva, Divine Couple Radha and Krishna.
Guru will be pleased if you serve to Guru. How to serve to Guru? That is called vani-seva. Do you understand? There are two kinds of guru-seva. One is called vapu-seva and the other is called vani-seva. Vapu-seva means serve Gurudeva physically serve that is called vapu-seva. Understand? Wash his cloths, cook for him, massage his feet, this is called vapu-seva. And vani-seva, what is the meaning of vani-seva? Listen hari-katha from the lotus lips of Guru and preach all over the world.
That is called brihat-mridanga-seva, you preach Gurudeva katha all over the world, one corner to another corner. So that means is what? Publish books, grantha-seva this is the best service of Guru. Gurudeva told, “Okay you can publish books, distribute the books. But where this books says, you have to read yourself, otherwise just taking books and distributing. But you don’t know inside what things.
One ISKCON devotee he met with Gurudeva, Gurudeva asked, Narayana Maharaja asked, “What is your service in your temple.” That devotee told, “I am distributing the books.” Then Gurudeva asked, “What books are you distributing?” Then he told, “I distributed a very nice book that is called Bhakti-rasamrita-sindhu.” Then Gurudeva asked, “Who composed the Bhakti-rasamrita-sindhu?” That devotee told, “I don’t know.”
Look this, Gurudeva told, “You are distributing Bhakti-rasamrita-sindhu, who composed this Bhakti-rasamrita-sindhu? Did you read that book?” The devotee told, “No, no, I did not read. Just taking many books on my shoulder and giving, ‘Take this book,’ the Bhagavad-gita, this, this, this…” So Gurudeva told, “Okay, this is good distribute the books, grantha-seva, this is the best I believe. But you have to read that book. You distribute the Bhakti-rasamrita-sindhu, you don’t know what is the subject of the Bhakti-rasamrita-sindhu.
So Gurudeva asked, “Did you learn a verse? What is the definition of shuddha-bhakti?” Who knows?
anyābhilāṣitā-śūnyaṁ
jñāna-karmādy-anāvṛtam
ānukūlyena kṛṣṇānu-
śīlanaṁ bhaktir uttamā
Chaitanya-charitamrita (Madhya-lila 19.167)
[The cultivation of activities that are meant exclusively for the pleasure of Sri Krishna, or in other words the uninterrupted flow of service to Sri Krishna, performed through all endeavours of the body, mind and speech, and through the expression of various spiritual sentiments (bhavas), which is not covered by jnana (knowledge aimed at impersonal liberation) and karma (reward-seeking activity), and which is devoid of all desires other than the aspiration to bring happiness to Sri Krishna, is called uttama-bhakti, pure devotional service.]You distribute the books, this is the best service, but you have to read that book. In this way you preach and distribute the books. You learn and you preach. Understand? So, all of our Gosvamis, they fulfill the desires of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Especially Rupa Gosvamipada, he absolutely fulfilled all the desires of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. For this regard, Narottama dasa Thakura, he composed one shloka, glorification of Rupa Gosvami. What shloka?
śrī-caitanya-mano-‘bhīṣṭaṁ sthāpitaṁ yena bhū-tale
svayaṁ rūpaḥ kadā mahyaṁ dadāti sva-padāntikam
You learn this verse.
Rupa Gosvamipda, who fulfilled all the desires of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, so when I will take shelter lotus feet of Rupa Gosvamipada. This is very important. So why am I saying this? Because all our Gosvamis, they fulfilled all the desires of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
Gaura-premanande! Hari Haribol!
